Gilbert Baker                                                                                                   

Gilbert J. Baker was born December 16, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was educated in the Baltimore Public School system and graduated from Baltimore City College in 1952. Immediately he enrolled at the University of Baltimore and graduated in 1954. He attended the University Of Baltimore Law School before coming to Houston, Texas in the summer of 1955. During the summer he met his future wife Golda Geller and they married August 19, 1956.
 
Gil founded The AFP Group in 1969, becoming a pioneer in the new science of Financial Planning. Along the way, he helped a countless number of families and business owners with their financial plans and successful retirement strategies. He is also very proud of the large number of people he brought into the business that are successful today in carrying on the mission of helping widows, orphans and retired people live lives of meaning and dignity. Gilbert Baker earned his CLU, ChFC, CFP designations (Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™) as well as a Life and qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table since 1963. He is a volunteer Corporate Giving Group of MDRT Foundation.  He has been a LUTC instructor for 6 years.  He has had numerous Court of the Table and Top of the Table achievements. He has missed only 2 Round Table meetings in his 43 years of qualification. He was chair of Million Dollar Round Table Day in 2002.
 
Gil has also found time for his community interests. He has served on the board of The Jewish Federation, Chair of the Community Relations Committee of the Jewish Federation, The Budget and Allocation committee of the Jewish Federation, countless nomination committee’s and the board of Houston Jewish Community Foundation. He is a member of The Technion Society, the "MIT of Israel.", a Hadassah’s Associate, was Board Chairman of the Camp Young Judea Support Group of Boiestown, Jerusalem and the Houston World Affairs Council. He currently serves of the International Board of Jaffe Center for Strategic study a division of the Tel Aviv University. As well as member of The President’s Club of the State of Israel Bonds Organization, the advisory board of American Public Affairs Committee, Board member of Jewish State Fund, and last but not least member of the Bond Institute for Hebraic –Christian Studies.  He and his wife Golda love to travel and have visited Israel 45 different times over the years.
 
They have 3 daughters Karen Blum who is a sales consultant, Ann Baker Ronn who is partner with The AFP Group, and the third daughter Marcie Baker Turrin is a professional organizer.
 
So far it has been pretty exciting and Gil is looking forward to his 50th anniversary (October 15,2007) and continuing to be blessed with the ability to exercise his passion of “Financial Security for all”.

Karin Churchfield Tyson                                                               

Karin is an active member of the Women's Resource Center, which raises money for women's charities in the greater Houston area.  

She holds her LUTCF designation and is currently working toward her CFP® certification.  She has been with the AFP group since 1992.

Karin qualifies for the Million Dollar Round Table and attends their educational meetings.  She is a member of the Greater Houston Builder's Association and has served on the Remodeler's Council Board.  Within this organization she helps business owners "make work optional."

In her spare time, Karin enjoys dancing with Matthew, her husband and spending time with their sons Zachary and Connor.

 


 

Ann Baker Ronn      

In her spare time, Ann enjoys spending time with her husband David and daughters Gabrielle, Netanya and Ahava. 

She is an active volunteer with Hadassah, an international women's organization, and is a graduate of Hadassah's Leadership Academy, a three-year leadership training program in which women from all walks of life learn to become community leaders.

Ann qualifies consistently for the for the Million Dollar Round Table conference. She is an enthusiastic volunteer for this premier professional organization. Currently she is CEO of Houston's MDRT Day to be held on February 6, 2007.

Ann has earned the designation of LUTCF (Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow) and is working toward her CLU (Certified Life Underwriter) and ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) designations.

She has been with the AFP group since 1991 and counts among her passions helping people achieve financial success and making them laugh.
